Welcome to Casa Bentbill, a private and tranquil retreat for nature lovers seeking deluxe amenities surrounded by special birds, mammals, butterflies and other insects, frogs and more!
Our home is fully stocked with everything you need while exploring the many natural wonders of the Bijagua/Tenorio area. We are located a 10-minute drive from Tapir Valley Nature Reserve, and just a few minutes from the hanging bridges and trails at Heliconias Rainforest Lodge (you could even walk!). Or explore our trails or the roadway outside our gate for plenty of wildlife viewing without getting in a car.
From the comfort of the living room or the cover of our wildlife viewing platform, you can enjoy mammals such as Baird's Tapirs, Three-toed Sloths, Tayra, Wooly Opossum, two species of monkeys, and more. In the yard, we have observed over 150 other species of birds (including three species of toucans!). There are numerous butterfly and moth species, plus a range of fascinating insects for any nature lover (but entomologists might want to use the moth wall for deeper study). Our ponds host Red-eyed tree frogs and other amphibians. We can recommend top-notch naturalist guides to help you get the most out of your experience in the area.
The spotless kitchen features plenty of dishes, gadgets, storage containers, and appliances to prepare all your meals at home or reheat leftovers from the great local restaurants (though you may find you won't want to leave once you settle in). We have an efficient induction cooktop, convection oven, microwave, electric kettle, blender/nutribullet smoothie maker, toaster, and more.
Two spacious bedrooms with queen beds feature high-quality bedding, plenty of storage space and closets, ceiling fans, and close access to the adjoining bathrooms.
The bathrooms feature on-demand hot water from modern, luxurious showers that you’ll appreciate after a day enjoying the nearby nature reserves (or just lounging around the house and platform!). And we always offer plenty of extra towels if needed.
As naturalists ourselves who spend long days in the field rain or shine, we have outfitted our house for cleaning up after a day on the trails. We have a fully stocked laundry room with washer, dryer, utility sink (pila), drying racks, and more. We have a few pairs of rubber boots to loan, or pick up your own at the local hardware store (ferretería) and dry them on our boot racks.
